Extracting a key

Here's how to extract a key:
  1. Type the user ID you want to search for in the "Search String" box.
  2. If you want to search by key ID, be sure to prefix the ID with "0x", i. e. "0xdeadbeef".
  3. Press the "Do the search!" key.
  4. The server will return a (verbose) list of keys on the server matching the given ID.
  5. The returned index will have hypertext links for every bracket-delimited identifier (i.e. <someone@domain.com>). Clicking on the hypertext link will display an ASCII-armored version of the listed public key.

Submitting a new key to the server

Here's how to add a key to the server's keyring:
  1. Cut-and-paste an ASCII-armored version of your public key into the text box.
  2. Press "Submit".
That's it! After you've received confirmation (to the email adress in your key-id), you can check that your key exists using the extract procedure above.

Removing a key from the server

It is not possible to remove a key from the server's keyring. The only real way to invalidate a public key is to revoke the key and submit the revoked key to the keyserver. OpenPGP compatible software won't use a public key that has been revoked. Generating a revocation, though, requires access to the corresponding private key, which means that users who lose access to their private keyring can't revoke their key.
